Great-grandmother Judy loves her NanaGram deliveries

And the feeling is mutual.
Listen to her voicemail review:

Hi this is Judy Sack, I love the pictures that my grandchildren have been sending me of my great-grandchildren. I sit and I look at them and it's just such a pleasant time to watch these; to see these pictures and to see the kids and how they grow from day-to-day and week-to-week. It's really a wonderful program that you have and I just love it. So thank you. Very happy and proud great-grandmother.

I live in the UK and miss my Maw Maw in Texas terribly. She just moved to assisted living and I've been struggling with how to send her my love from afar. Nanagram is a great way to show her snapshots of my life here and send her reminders of how much we care and love her. Thank you so much!

Nana loved! I never would have gone to the CVS printed pictures and mailed them. This made it super easy and much more special than sharing a digital album!

Nanagram has made it incredibly easy to share photos of our family with less tech-savvy family members. I never found the time to actually print out photos and mail them myself on any regular basis (realities of having a baby). Nanagram solved that problem!

My parents (72 yrs old) love receiving these photos. They describe how different it is to receive tangible photos, and they bought a physical album to store the photos. The process is simple and so great for sharing photos of the grandkids. Highly recommend!

My mom absolutely loves getting physical photos of the grandkids every month. It has also been really nice getting the reminders. Time flies and it is too easy to let several months pass without sending photos if I didn't have reminders! I also love that if I load a bunch, it holds onto them and sends them through the year. Overall absolutely easy and fun, I highly recommend!

Frequently asked questions

What will my loved one get?
We ship classic printed 4"x6" photos, perfect for framing, albums, and the fridge. Your loved one doesn't need any tech. They get hard-copy prints in the mail, like magic. We include a free cover photo which lists out the names and, phone numbers, and mailing addresses of everyone on the account.
Can I share a plan with my family?
We offer family or solo plans. With a family plan, you can invite unlimited siblings, cousins and other family to your account to upload photos with you. You can switch between a solo or family plan anytime.
What if someone on my account (sibling, cousin, etc) sends a bad photo?
You have total control over which photos go to print on our website. You can skip photos you don't love.
Can I send slightly different photos to my inlaws?
Yes! If you want to send slightly different photos to your inlaws, you can create a separate subscription using the same password. If you're just getting started, finish setting up your primary account first. Once you're done, you'll find the option to set up another subscription under the same login. To send the same set of photos to multiple people, you can choose multiple loved ones under the option "I'd like to send my photos to."
Can I split the photos in my plan and send them to multiple people?
All of the photos in a plan go to the same recipient, due to the cost of shipping and handling. However, we do offer multiple-recipient plans, allowing you to send the same set of photos to multiple people . If you're using a phone-number-powered account (US and Canada only) you can get $1 off each additional recipient. For example, the Starter Plan (5 photos) is $8.99. Each additional recipient is $7.99.
What if only part of my family is located in the US or Canada?
Your family located internationally can send photos to print to the unique email we assign to every account. Your family located in the US or Canada can text photos to your unique number.
If I'm based in the US or Canada, do I have to text my photos?
You're not required to subscribe to a text-enabled plan. You can subscribe to our email-only plan. We'll give you a unique email instead of a phone number. If you sign up for a text-enabled account, we also provide you with a unique email.
How do captions work?
When you send text along with your photo, we'll layer it on top of the photo as a caption. See an example. On our website, you'll have the option to move caption to the top or bottom of your photos. You can also add "-b or -bottom" at the end of your message to position the caption to the bottom over text. When emailing photos, use the subject line for captions.
What happens if I send more than my monthly limit?
If you go over your account's limit, we still save every photo uploaded. We ship the first 10 photos (or whatever your account limit) and the remaining photos roll over to next month. You can also get bonus photos in our referral program or upgrade your account in a jiffy.
Do you roll over unused photos?
We rollover unused photos if you send in zero photos in your scheduled shipment. For example, if you're on the monthly 5-photo plan and don't send any photos this month, you'll be credited 5 photos and you'll be able to send up to 10 in the next shipment. Given the cost of shipping and handling, at this time we don't roll over partially unused photos.
I'm a grandparent. Can I buy an account to give to my grandkids?
Totally. We offer gift cards, which you can pass on to your grandkids. They'll handle setting up the account.

Our Story

I’m Alex Cook and together with my brother Andy, we built NanaGram as a gift for our late grandfather Tirrell Cook (Grandpa to us) for his 94th birthday.

Photo of a man (Grandpa Cook) on his 94th birthday blowing out candles with his grandson (Alex) in the right and his daughter-in-law Janet on the left.

Celebrating Grandpa Cook's 94th birthday

When Grandpa stopped driving at 93, I started making more of an effort to visit. It started with errands to the grocery store and bank and quickly morphed into adventures with Grandpa. After breakfast or errands, Grandpa would detour me all around Boston’s South Shore to talk history, geneology and marvel at everything, big and small. One year around the holidays it had been a while since he had a hair cut. I took him to the barber and afterwards he unexpectedly shared his excitement in the car!

As Grandpa grew older, the blood thinning medication he was on made it too dangerous for him to shave. He had no choice to but to grow a beard. Arthritis in his hands made it difficult for him to hold a beard trimmer. One day my mom called and asked me to go over and help him get cleaned up. I became his "barber" — hands-down the most rewarding title of my lifetime!

Grandpa and Grandma Cook lived in their home together for over 60 years. Over the years, my siblings and I would visit our grandparents as often as possible. Grandma and Grandpa loved going through videos and photos on our phones. We tried countless times to set them up with computers, iPads, and other screens but nothing stuck. If we had the time, sometimes we’d send a batch of photos to print a local 1-hour photo but it was challenging to be consistent. So often when we’d go home, our photos and videos went with us.

A man in his 90s (Grandpa Cook) and his grandson sitting on a couch holding two live lobsters.

Grandpa's live lobster birthday gift!

At Grandpa Cook’s 94th birthday, I bought a couple twin live lobsters (Grandpa loved his lobster rolls) thinking there’s no way any of my siblings could top my gift. Sure enough, my brother Andy unveiled a prototype for a text-to-print service he started building the night before. When Andy asked me to help him finish building it, I instantly said "Hell yes!" We decided to name the product NanaGram, after our our mom (Nana) and our grandmother: An ode to the telegram and her career in the communication industry as a life telephone operator. A few weeks later NanaGram blew up on Reddit.

Now thousands of NanaGrammers are delivering photos to hundreds of grandparents across the the world every month. Our regular photo deliveries spark an increase in phone calls and visits, bringing families closer together. In the words of Grandpa Cook, “Isn’t that wonderful!”
